UEFA confirm Dynamo Kiev-Inter match will go ahead as planned
Sat Oct 30

There were fears that the spread of swine flu in the Ukraine could postpone the Champions League match between Dynamo Kiev and Inter next week, but UEFA have confirmed the match will now go ahead as planned.

Ukraine prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko said the situation would be evaluated, after schools had been closed and other restrictions placed on the public. However, UEFA have dismissed the possibility.

"The teams participating in UEFA competitions are broad enough to cover emergencies and no state authority has put any restrictions [in place] in this regard," said a spokesperson for the European football federation, quoted by Il Corriere dello Sport.

"Every match will be held regularly on the dates and times established."

Therefore the Eastern European outfit will still host the Italian champions on November 4. The World Cup play-off match between Ukraine and Greece on November 18 will also not be affected.
